In the following HowTo tutorial I will explain how to correctly protest against a ban/warning that has been applied by a Staff Member.

Clearly the board rules state the following:

      12. - Discussions about warnings and bans are not allowed, threads with this subjects are immediately closed and the insistence on continuing to open this kind of threads can lead to warnings. Whenever you want to complain about a warning and/or ban received, you must contact the person who applied the punishment (by PM or email).

So, how can any community member complain if he or she thinks the action taken towards that person is incorrect.

Let's go step by step (applies both for in-game and board)

      - Firstly you will have to find out what Staff Member has applied the ban.
This can be done by checking the "pillory" on the front page of each server in the case of a game ban or by checking the conversation automatically created when you are warned, the creater of the conversation is the staff member that has issued the warning, in the case of the board.

      - Now that you know who has taken the action you will have to find his rank within the team.
This can be done by checking the Staff Members tag or checking the Staff Members page.

      - Now that you have all the needed information (You will have also found out the reason of your ban/warning) you will have to follow the team hierarchy from bottom to top, as follows:

      1. Trial Game Operator / Trial Moderator
      2. Game Operator / Moderator
      3. Super Game Operator / Super Moderator
      4. Game & Board Administrator
      5. Community Manager
      6. Project Manager
Now that you know how to complain about a ban or warning without getting a warning in the process. Let's keep the following in mind:

      - When you contact the Staff Member it's best to give all the details since we may not allways remember every case.

      - You must allways contact the Staff Member directly above who applied the action in question.

      - Sometimes we can not reply within the same day, it's recommend you wait at least 48 before going to the next level, in this case inform that you have done so.

      - It's not very nice to open a conversation and find multiple messages, this will not help since it will be considered spam, it's best to send one detailed message.

      - Once you reply is given and you still are not satisfied, add the next Staff Member to the same conversation and it will be reviewed by him.

      - If with the final decision you are still unsatisfied, this is not the communities problem and flaming all posts will not help you and can even provoke the team to make the reason of your ban public and showing to the community the truth, this may not give a good opinion of your person.

Hopefully this tutorial will help the community.
