Is it true you can only make 355 planets?

If so why

As my style of playing has always involved massive amounts of planets
and even more massive amounts of ores but almost zero BP untill it comes time to kill things.
Please tell me this piece of information i have been given is wrong and you can make a thousand plus planets

Its only limited to you level of "Colonization Technology" research. So you'll have to research it a bit more to reach you goal

If my math isn't betraying me 366 should be the highest amount of planets you can get. The hydrogen tank can reach lvl 299 before the costs exceed the amount that can be stored. That allows you to research colonization technology to lvl 105, which allows you to colonize 366 planets.

That being said, reaching the required level of storage/research will take at least a decade. 200 Planets are probably the highest you can get at a reliable pace (only requiring hydrogen tank lvl 90).

There is possible only 355 planets. Max Colo lvl is 102 and requires 15.6M IRON, 6.2M LUT and 41.6M HYDRO

Max Iron Storage is 374
Max Lut Storage is 529
Max Hydro Storage is 281 and requires 47.3M IRON, 78.9M LUT and 39.4M HYDRO...and gives capacity of 42.1M HYDRO...

So for more planets and colo lvls the max lvls of storages would need to be lifted

That is correct, I didn't double check if Fe or Lut could be hindering the H² storage and just went of an (apparently poorly made) estimation. 355 it is after all.

It is not viable at all, the number of planets you can colonize for each tech lvl doesn't scale up the same as in S4K where you could do hundreds with just a couple of techs. To put it simple, it is a waste of resources, seriously.

Sorry FenixDown i disagree even a small amount like 355 planets can give massive res long term.
sure it will never be like 500M hydro a day and over 2B lute and iron but it certainly will exceed 100m hydro
And lets be honest this game is always a long term game never a quick reward
But its clear it will take years before anyone is able to even attempt hydro tank 281 as i remember when going for diplo 8 in s4k it took me 3 months to push my tank from 90 to 128 due to the massive iron and lute tanks required.
But as we all have tons of time in this game lets see how high i can go as i am up for the laugh.
once you get over the 200 planet point trust me res is never a problem it just the time builds take even with level 200 hq's
my short term ( by short i mean in under 2 years) is 228 planets
after that lets see

Looks like you are going to take the 10 year 355 planet challenge Demo, that £3k keyboard is going to come in handy

It is possible but what I mean is that it takes too much time to do it. I had managed hundreds of planets on my Space4k times and it was worth it, but here 3-4 planets for each tech level its a huge constraint and with the future rebalanced of fleet indexes, the BP % will be a huge hindrance for people with too many planets.
